GRPBA is always seeking donations of the following items:
- Dry dog food
- Dry cat food
- Canned dog & cat food
- Dog & cat treats
- Dog & cat toys
- Leashes
- Collars
- Harnesses
- Pet beds
- Crates
- Flea & Tick prevention
- New or gently used igloo or plastic style dog houses
Gently used items are accepted. Opened bags of pet food are also accepted but must be taped up in the original packaging, and the UPC, Lot #, and Ingredients are required.

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of pets and their families in the Grand Rapids area? Grand Rapids Pit Bull Alliance (GRPBA) is a 100% volunteer-operated organization that relies on the dedication of compassionate individuals to achieve our mission. We are always seeking enthusiastic and non-judgmental people who are passionate about helping animals and people to join our team.
Our ideal volunteers are:
- Outgoing and passionate about helping animals and people.
- Non-judgmental and empathetic.
- Able to commit to at least one volunteer session per month.
- Understanding of sensitive situations and diverse circumstances.
- Ready to serve as ambassadors for our organization in the community.
What You’ll Do
As a GRPBA volunteer, you can play a vital role in various activities, including:
- Pet food distribution and delivery.
- Community outreach and education.
- Event and fundraiser staffing.
- Administrative support (calls, emails, research).
- Projects and events at our pet support center.
- Transportation for pets.
- Assisting with Vaccine / Wellness Clinics, which are planned to start in Summer 2025.
- Assisting with Spay and Neuter Clinics.
Why It Matters
At GRPBA, we work directly with families facing various hardships, helping them keep their beloved pets. Our volunteers make a real difference by supporting “both ends of the leash” – helping both pets and their human families stay together.

Due to the sensitive nature of our work, all potential volunteers must:
- Attend a New Volunteer Orientation to learn about our community work.
- Have the opportunity to ask questions and ensure we’re the right fit.
