About Grand Rapids Pit Bull Alliance (GRPBA)

At Grand Rapids Pit Bull Alliance (GRPBA), we believe in a revolutionary approach to pet welfare—one that recognizes the deep connection between people and their pets. Our mission goes beyond traditional animal services by focusing on the entire human-animal relationship.

GRPBA has been supporting our community since 2017 through pet food bank and outreach programs. As a 100% volunteer-operated organization supported entirely by fundraising efforts and community donations, we continue to see growing needs in our community and aim to help wherever we can. GRPBA is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization, so your donation is tax-deductible.

Our Unique Outreach Approach

We understand that many pet parents face significant challenges in accessing services for their beloved companions. These barriers can include spatial inequality, systemic bias, and institutional discrimination. Our approach actively works to bridge these gaps, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to experience the joy and unconditional love that comes with pet companionship.
Our success stems from our commitment to building genuine, lasting relationships within our community. We achieve this through:

  • Active community presence and engagement.
  • Open, judgment-free conversations with pet parents.
  • Direct learning about community needs.
  • Sustained, long-term support for families and their pets.
  • Meeting People Where They Are: We approach every interaction with compassion, empathy, and without judgment. By meeting pet parents where they are—both literally and figuratively—we can better understand their unique situations and provide the support they truly need.

Our Core Philosophy

Everyone’s life can be enhanced by a pet, and everyone who chooses should have the opportunity to experience the meaningful relationship a pet brings. We’re here to support and honor that special bond between people and their animal companions.

Volunteer

We rely on the dedication of our volunteers to achieve our mission. We are always seeking enthusiastic and compassionate individuals to join our team.

Volunteers play vital roles in pet food distribution, community outreach, event staffing, administrative support, and more. If you are interested in making a difference, please email us to learn about our next New Volunteer Orientation session.

Donate

You can also support our work through financial donations via Venmo, PayPal, or check, and by donating food and supplies at our designated drop-off locations or by hosting a donation drive.

We are excited about our move to a larger facility in 2025, which promises exciting opportunities for expanding our pet food bank and services, strengthening our community support, and keeping pets with their families.
